I don't know what the literature calls for. It was acting strange. It would work probably a day or so, then it would trip the GFI. I ended up going back and was going to wire it on a separate circuit, but there's no access in the ceilings and it would take a lot of exposed conduit on the outside of a $400,000.00 house to do it, so for now I put it on the line side of the GFI, and it is holding. The "fault" was between neutral to ground, I do know. It's a mystery to me for now.
I might see if I can pull up some information on the manufacturer, and ask them, if I can remember the name of the pump control:(
