You're not required to use a NEMA pattern! What you ARE required to do is use equipment that can handle the use, and cannot be confused with other systems in the same building.
To that end, there are quite a few private brands out there ... Meltric, Amphenol, etc. I'd find out what the local supply house carries, and try to conform to that.
