Pretty close to the West Coast... Las Vegas (we get about 6000 new residents a month... The housebuilders, and electricians, have plenty of work) An old house around here is anything built before 1990...
I started in Salt Lake City where many houses are built out of two layers of brick. EMT and weatherproof boxes are pretty normal for those applications.
