First, start your computer in the safe mode with network support or selective startup with all programs unchecked. See if the problem still exist. If not, some program is causing the problem. Check that windows is up to date. One of the worst programs is the disk that the cable/phone co give you to connect to their systems. This disk is NOT needed to connect to the internet. All the settings can be manually set up but they will tell you to install the disk. They are usually full of spyware that your spyware remover will ignore. I have seen machines that were working great till the AT&T DSL disk was installed and they slowed to a crawl. Not only that they are very difficult if impossible to remove. Robert
