Wow, guess I really need to find something on them because it is so hard to undo misconceptions. I thought the whole idea of series rating was to be able to use a lesser AIC rating (not able to withstand high faults) because they worked in conjunction with the breaker above it to 'coordinate' the fault, or work together to minimize its 'boom' affect. However, I do admit I have no idea where that idea came from... guess I ought to read on it - think I've been wondering off and on now for about 15 year now !!
