I had a TV repairman come out to fix my big screen TV. He had a trip charge of $40 and a diagnostic fee of $40.
So it was $80 to have him come out to determine the problem. He was there about 10 minutes and said he would have to order the part and come back. He did apply the $80 to the cost of the repair. If I had declined to have the repairs done he would have collected the $80.
Charging these fees seems to be standard proceedure for a lot of the service companies. Now I just need to get mine up to $80
