I ran into something like this in a buddy's kitchen, was an old house and there was an outlet next to the door, I was told that they could only use the outlet when the light was on. So if you had the light on, and then plugged something in, the lamp would get real dim....... Apparently it had once been part of a 3- way switch......Homewowners.....lol
