San Francisco uses the 2001 California Electric Code which is the 1999 NEC. (The entire state is required to adopt this code.) They do have a lot of amendments. The only amendment under Non metallic sheathed cable is to ban it from all non residential occupancies. I just breezed through but I did notice a couple of interesting things. One of the amendments is to require electric room doors to open out and have panic hardware. Right out of the 2002 code. Another is it makes it very clear that the work space area in front of equipment must be level. I believe this was a topic here a wile back.

Oh, I almost forgot! Another amendment is a color code for ungrounded conductors. 208/120 A black, B red, C blue
480/277 A brown, B orange, C yellow
