One of the L leads (L1 maybe), goes to the protector. The protector heater/contact should go to directly to one winding, the other contact to the junction box (I suspect to terminal 3). the non marked wire may be the other end of the run winding connected to the protector.

L2 and 4 are possibly the second run winding.

I'd guess 8 and J are the start leads (which you seap to reverse rotation.

If my supposition is correct, connect line to L1,L2 as normal, hot to L1. NM to L2, jumper 3 to 4.

I'd disconnect everything and ring things out with a continuty checker to be sure. 8 and J connect to 3 and L2. Which exactly depends on the rotation.
