I guess GM feels there is no reason to make a cheaper fuel efficent vehicle when people are lining up to get a $40,000 SUV or $30,000 truck that gets 9-11 MPG around town. Some SUVs are so heavy manufactures don't have to publish or meet any fuel standards. They don't go to work to make a great car or the world better just to make money.

For any major change to happen it has to be from consumers, the goverment with it's corpotate average fuel econimy (CAFE) requirments, goverment incentives, or major changes in oil pricing.
