Do you have the positioning tool that goes with it? It's necessary for best control. I have bits up to 72 inch. I haven't used them too much, only when necessary. I've got this thing about drilling into the "unknown"

Haven't had any accidents with them, but it's easy to see how something could happen when you can't see what's there.
