I'm replacing a fluorescent ceiling fixture in a kitchen with at least three recessed fixtures spaced 48" apart. The ceiling joists run perpendicular to the path of the cable. I guess this is a job for a Greenlee Diversabit. The existing box is where the center fixture will be and I have to drill through at least two joists to get to the next fixture. I have not used these long bits. Any tips or comments?

Do you have the positioning tool that goes with it? It's necessary for best control. I have bits up to 72 inch. I haven't used them too much, only when necessary. I've got this thing about drilling into the "unknown" Haven't had any accidents with them, but it's easy to see how something could happen when you can't see what's there.

Yes, I forgot to mention the controlling tool. I know what you mean about the unknown. I'll do my best to prepare and scout the area.
