Received this request by e-mail. It's a little out of my line, so maybe some of our HV linemen have some suggestions:

Hope you can help. We are working on a project in Azerbaijan and we urgently need to source a supply of fuse wire (3A) for Renley drop out fuses. Voltage is 11kV and 6kV. Urgently required.

Thanks

I've pointed Mr. Lax to this thread, but I don't doubt a direct e-mail would be appreciated if you can help: ken.lax@corroconsult.com.

Thanks guys!

Paul,
I have just sent Mr Lax an email regarding this dilemma.
Normally you can use tinned copper wire of 0.15mm CSA for a 3A DO fuse.
Having said that, all our new drop-out fuses come as an HRC link and are factory sealed.
BTW, Renley is an Irish company and their website is at http://www.iol.ie/~renley .
BTW, Paul, thanks for the referral, it's great to be able to help!. [Linked Image]

Just on the subject of HV drop-outs,
we tend to only use NZ made units over here, this could be put down to small country protectionism, but we've had the odd problem with these fuses welding into the holders.
We tried using a Swedish brand and we've had no problems at all with them, can't remember what brand they were though, they seemed to have a higher quality of manufacture. [Linked Image]
