I find it interesting that England assesses fines in US dollars.

My guess is that this is Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia (near Sydney).

Hmmmm....... I've just been doing a little searching to see what I can come up with on this. It appears that this sign has been doing the rounds on various websites for a couple of years.

I can't find anything on a present-day Newcastle tramway (streetcar) system in N.S.W., nor any link to a Newcastle Tramway Authority there.

It seems that Newcastle used to have a tram system, but it was disbanded around 1950, about 16 years before Australia changed from LSD to dollars & cents.
