If your weren't electrician what type of work do you think you would be doing?
Diesel mechanic, preferably Mercedes Benz.
I'd still be bouncing around various jobs, being under-utilised.
Porn Star
No, really I'd probably work in my Dads company as a maufactures rep.
Elevator Mechanic. I like mechanical and electtical equipment. I also have taken a company sponsered millwright class.
PGA Tour professional..........only in my dreams.
Architecht
and my name would be Art Vandeliegh.
Greeter - when I got into this work, it was all I could find. 17 years old and without grade 12, my teachers predicted gloom.
30 years ago, half the electricians didn't finish high school. Now, the educators have decided that complete high school is a requirement. After reducing the pool of potential tradespeople by half, I hear many complaints about it being difficult to find a good electrician. So, what is the maximum IQ to become a teacher?
A bum on skid row, or even worse...A plumber
out of HS I wanted to be a physical theripist, or a draftsman or architect....but more than likely, if a wasn't an electrician now, I'd be stuck working at the plastics factory where I once worked.

I would probably take the first flight to Fallujah. My wife told me if I tried to re-enlist she would break my legs in my sleep then divorce me though.

Electricians get put on ships or subs. Enjoy your hammock!
I would be in a concrete mixer or on a Track Hoe. Both jobs I had for a few years before I finally took the plunge into this field.
Running a backhoe or Directional Drill, welding, mechanic work.

Probably teaching History in a high school somewhere.
I would be pulling cars apart at the wrecking yard
Its all fun and games till you realize its just a family-owned break-even venture operated to satisfy their own need to tinker with vehicles full-time.
Upon that realization, I left to start electrical.
More than likely a Slaughterman at the local meat-works.
Or a Chimney-Sweep.
Such choice!
I would still be a draftsman since that is what I was doing before I got involved with engineering.

If I had to avoid choosing any of the electrical or electronic/telecoms fields in which I'm involved, maybe either a teacher (because I love having kids around and showing them new things) or a pilot (because I once had a go at flying a small plane and loved it).
I would probably still be driving truck. Though about a year ago, toyed around with the idea of looking into opening up my own massage therapist biz. Here I am to this day, still pulling wire. <sigh> Cant complain, really, working for a good company and never had any problems with any of the crew...maybe its because its such a small company and we're pretty tight...?
