Looking for some comments regarding rule 6-206 (location of service equipment). This missed my radar from my previous post regarding the service change.

Does 6-206 read as each Apt panel must be in the actual apartment or in a common area or does it read that as long as they (the panels) are accessible and are free from unauthorized access they can be located anywhere?

In my case, the panels would be located in one apartment, with locked covers but could be accessed as needed through the landlord (master key). I know that I have been to many places where the occupant could not access “their panel” if needed. Relocating the panels to each apartment or to a common area is now a major undertaking.

Thanks for you comments.

Cheers

Sorry Navy Guy yes the tenants must have Access to there own panel which usually means in their own apartment. It would be very inconvenient to have to call the landlord to reset breakers.

BTW in British Columbia Only an Electrical Contractor could take this permit out as it cant fall under homeowner work as theres rental units involved,
