if the 'code' were to address all the power strip abuse ( assuming it will be seen as such), then every dwelling built would need to have a similar setup as you've described.
the 16 receptacles would also need to be desktop level, as most computer cords , and the multitudes of appliances have short cords.
Maybe a new reference {210.52-I ?} may need to address this with reference to art 645?
All that is needed is a body count from OSHA per computer power strip mishaps that would humble any power strip lobbyists sitting on a CMP right?
