We always alternated by the week. Each week a different person was responsible for the box. It rotated among everybody except the guy in charge of the job(J workers, apprenticeses made no diff). On small jobs it was mine every 3rd week or so and on bigger jobs it may have been every 5th or 6th week. If you called in sick you owed somebody a day. If it was a short week you lucked out.
