How much money are you talking about here?
I woould suggest you send the customer an invoice for the work completed. This way you have a written record of the work you have completed and the amount due for said work. If you're not talking more than a thousand or so dollars you're best bet might be small claims court. Sorry to hear you got stiffed. It's an unfortunate situation but you'll find over time (like I have) that there are more people like this out there than you might think. Protect yourself with a written contract up front whenever possible.
