Anyway, trying to make a good rule of thumb for arcfault vs GFCI requirements in residential dwellings, such as:

GFCI:
1) 2 20A GFCI circuits in kitchens
2) at least 1 20A GFCI available in each bathroom
3) unfinished basement receptacles
4) all garage receptacles
5) all outdoor receptacles

AFCI:
Everywhere else except:
unfinished basement receptacles (GFCI there)

what about these:

range? 120 or 240?
refrigerator?
furnace?
AC condensor?
sewage ejector pump?

IMHO No to all
None of these are usually in one of the 210.12 rooms

If you want to continue this, let's start it up over in the "NEC" topic. That is where we have these kinds of conversations. and more people will find it.
