in wiring a house does anyone see a problem with bringing power into switch box , then to recps as needed in one room?
no more than 10 drops per 20 amp circuit and no more than one light or ceiling fan,
no vanity or multi lights fixture included.

so many ways to install what is the common acceptable standard?

I don't so house wiring (some rare exceptions), but I would never put the lights on the same circuit as the receptacles, expecially in the same room.

Before, I would agree that the lights should be seperate from the receptacles to keep one from being in the dark if they trip a breaker on the recepts.

However, I have changed my mind on this in an effort to keep costs down when AFCI circuits will be required (bedrooms).

Comments?

The way I usually try to do this (I don't do much house wiring) is to lay out the circuits so that one room is served by two general purpose circuits, so that even if one circuit trips out, there will at least be a few working outlets in a room.

'66- it will be at least 3 more years before WV actually requires us to use AFCI's, we're just now getting around to adopting the 1999 NEC. As usual, if it's something good, we're near the last to get it, if it's bad, we're usually the nations leader. [Linked Image]

Few things are harder to put up with than the annoyance of a good example.

I asked an Canadian inspector that question and he said was that it is up to the owner if wants to pay for it and that it was not a defect.
