I have a ongoing thing with my boss about bonding, we are doing a 450ft run of 4/0 and #2 ground. Going though 4 j-box's. There are no concentic k.o's all are punched, I say we should use bonding bushings not just locknuts for the bond. He says just plastic bushings. Who would be right. Thanks Sam

While bonding bushings would not be a bad idea you don't need them. You only need them if using concentric or ecentric knockouts. Read 250.92 and 250.97

2005 NEC 250.92 is for services . As this is a feeder . (250.97) deals with Bonding over 250 volts to ground. If this was a 120/240 or 120/208 volt. Bonding bushings on a feeder would not be required Even if concentric or ecentric was involved. IF they were in good condition.

Most inspectors around here(Northern Illinois) make you put them on with concentric or ecentric knockouts. Especially for feeders.

When the inspector looked at the underground branch he said he would be looking for the rigid sweeps and EMT to be grounded. Thanks for the input. Sam
