Went to the veterinary's surgery today for Will's thyroid tablets.
On the way back, we detoured to have a close look at a new wind farm. Wow! There are 7 windmills, 2.5MW each, nearly 400 feet tall, strung out in a cornfield, nearest habitation 1.5 miles. Up close, there is a regular gentle swoosh as the 125 plus foot blades turn, by my reckoning 12 rpm in a stiff breeze. Nowhere near as loud as I'd imagined. At 200 yards, in the lee of some young oak trees, the sound was barely more than the wind in the branches. Then Jim spotted a rabbit and vanished into the scenery for half an hour, totally ignoring the new 'silent' whistle. We got a bit wet as it started to rain. Home for nice cuppa tea and a chocolate bicuit - and because we got a 230v Euro-kettle, it only took 2 minutes!

As soon as the 'little windmill' in the Twp I work in is up, I'll get a pic....so you can have a good laugh.

Just hope that they are not on a migration path for birds or bats.
