I'm working on a marina project that has pre-manufactured rather than built in place main walkways and slips. Each 2 boat slip gets a power/light pedestal with 2- 120v 30a TL receps. Each pedestal has a pre-installed 2" PVC sleeve under it that comes from a pre cast deck box 24x16x16 . The PVC is a sleeve only as it is cut off flush and has no connector. This looks fishy to me. What kind of conductor/raceway system is appropriate here?

Greg,
Since you're only providing two 30 amp circuits, can you check with the inspector about installing a smaller raceway in the sleeve? I have done this under sidewalks and driveways when it was approved ahead of time with the electrical inspector.

If you installed a 2" to 1/2" reducing washer at each end of the sleeve with a piece of 1/2" PVC, two male adaptors and locknuts, the conduit could not go anywhere.

Because of the flexing of the decks along with water, oils, sunlight and changing water elevations reek havoc on conduit systems. I have seen some excellent conduit systems that are in needing of replacement after about 10 years. I found that extra hard usage protable cable (type G or W) seem to last very well and are worth the expense. See NEC 555.13. The sleeves will act as support, but likely not all the support you will need.

Just make sure connections are made above the datum plane and 12" above the floating deck NEC 555.9.

This from someone in a desert state (but plenty of marina's in my jurisdiction).

Well, my description left out some details. The pedestals are supposed to be fed like RV pedestals, looped from one to the other with conductors large enough for the load adjusted for demand factor. Each recep on the pedestal has its own 30a circuit breaker. But having just one 2" conduit is the problem since Type W cable is 1" diameter or larger. How can you go from one to the next when you can't get 2 cables in the conduit? And the 1" cable is #8. If I loop I need to use at least #4. It just won't fit.

Sounds like someone drop the ball on the design or purchasing the float sections. The way I seen them wired is like sabrown's post and with two stubs for in and out power
