This sort of goes with the question below but a different application. In a hospital setting the plans show three power panels surface mount in an exit corridor. Besides being a bad location I am looking for code references prohibiting it. (UBC, CEC ADA etc.) Does anyone now off hand?
Hi Nick. Please understand that my knowledge of the 97 UBC is pretty limitted, much less the California Building Code. From what I have read, the 4" projection rule doesn't apply to the UBC. With that in mind, barring a local amendment, I can see no violation in placing your panel in the hallway.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to quote a code violation but instead I just brought it up to the GC today. I'll still have to write the RFI so I can steer them in the right direction to move them to. As it turns out this corridor will be a major though fare for the staff. There is bumper gard going at +42" so they will have to move merely based on that.
