UL Warns of a Potentially Hazardous Shop Light Which Bears a Counterfeit UL Label

NORTHBROOK, Ill. - Oct. 19, 2005 - Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is notifying consumers that the shop light model identified below bears a counterfeit UL Mark for the United States and Canada. It does not meet UL requirements and may pose a risk of fire and electric shock.

Manufactured: Manufactured by DM Technology & Energy Inc. for SIMKAR Corporation

Date of Manufacture: Unknown

Hazard: This product has features that do not comply with UL's applicable safety standard and may pose a risk of fire and shock. The product is not eligible to bear the UL Mark.

On the product: "48" Long Shop Light SL-2" and the counterfeit UL Label marked as follows:

On the packaging: Identified as "48" Shop Light (fluorescent) Model No. SL-2" marked on the white carton in red lettering. The following features are also highlighted:
