In Webster's dictionary, a picture of this might appear next to the word "Panelboard". [Linked Image]

I hope somebody's kidding with this thing...It kinda conjures up thoughts of what knob and tube wiring might look like without the knobs or tubes... [Linked Image]

Sorry, but they weren't kidding. It was in place and working in an illegal installation where someone had made a multi-family dwelling out of a single family.

It's been said before on this forum "The trouble with electricity is........ it nearly always works"

For the first time ever, I think I'm at a total loss for words.
If George hadn't posted this I would think it was a staged picture.

Shouldn't that be "on it"?. [Linked Image]
I suppose it saves on knock-outs and glands.
How on earth would you ground a panel like this?. [Linked Image]

I just know you have a different definition of gland than we do in the U.S.

What is it?
