Sorry guys, I just have a strong feeling towards our ANZAC forces.
And thier memory.
Haven't been able to find a poppy icon, perhaps someone else can find one.
Anyway, let those that served, rest in peace.
Lest we forget.

We seem to have a generation now which doesn't even know who fought on which side all those years ago, but rest assured that there are still plenty of us here who remember the Aussies and Kiwis who stood with the Allies.

Prior at 02.00 hrs we had 11 kV lines causing a wooden pole to burn down and stood by till the POCO repair crews arrived in th rain.

Hi, Auckland was hosing down with rain at 05.00 hrs.
I do admit and didn't go to the dawn parade at glen eden cemetary.
At 09.30 h we met at the Fire station and had the parade through Titirangi Village, do the formal ANZAC ceremony with speeches and imput from the local schools, and afterwards ended up in the Titirangi RSA to have a few drinks afterwards.

Great day of course.

It poured down here during the Dawn Parade.
A very good turn out from both young and old.
Although our soldiers of WWII are slowly fading away, the respect given to them seems to be un-dying.
I'm saying a personal thank-you for those that got soaked (as I did), anywhere in the country.
A little hard-ship for what they did for us.
And that includes the ladies that did everything that the men serving overseas left behind.
To quote Stevie Ray Vaughan(sp?) "The Sky is Crying".

Trumpy, My wife, daughter and I didn't make dawn service on ANZAC day but paid our respects at the New Brighton war memorial mid-morning in the pouring rain. The Memorial statue was covered in beautiful floral wreaths from schools, scouts, guides, police and fire brigades.

"Lest We Forget". It always rains on ANZAC day.

I agree that it does seem to rain on ANZAC day.
It never kept a LOT of people at home here.
I knew my Grandad well and if he had been looking down on us at the ANZAC parade, he would have said to his mates up there,
"Look at them silly bastards down there getting soaked to the bone".
This was the same guy that said to me not long before he passed away, "There are old soldiers and there are those that are just old shits".
He was a sergeant(sp?) with the British Army, I still have the greatest amount of respect for him, he made me the Fire Officer I am today.
I nearly became a Blacksmith actually, however there isn't a lot of call for them these days, although I can turn out a decent pair of horse shoes and I can weld in a forge, how many engineers can say that these days?. (Alan?)
