I was just a little curious as to what it costs to keep you're electrical licence in different parts around our little world.

Here in Qld Aust, When I completed my apprenticeship you had a licence for life. Now the rules have changed and you pay $55.40 every five years to keep it. A contractors licence costs $240.00 per year last time I checked. Not to mention CPR and Switchboard rescue courses and public liability insurance.

It would be interesting to see how this fits with the rest of you guys.

Gidday there Gray!,
That's a rather good question actually.
Last time I sent a cheque away, it had something like $110 on it, that's for a Practising Licence renewal (2 years worth).
Now here's a question for you kiwi,
How much do the Refresher courses cost?. (As in
CPR/First Aid and Safety/Testing)?.
I've never paid for one myself, or does the EWRB pay for them?.
The PoCo I work for has thier own internal safety training scheme.

My "journeyman" card is issued by each town I work in, so each year I spend about $100 to update them all.
My Electrical Contractors' license, issued by the state, costs $500 per year, with other associated costs jacking the total to about $1100. And that's not counting the bond.

It costs me NZ$220 per turn around to have 2 Practicing Licences.
And personally, I've never shown a single person my Practicing Licence.
As a Line-Mechanic, people never argue if you are working on thier 33kV lines.
They want their power back on, not to see your Qualifications.
What a waste of time and money. [Linked Image]
