BTW: Patrick is the "p" in Jps1006. No Irish blood though, well very little if any.

I've heard of St. Patricks day from time to time, but I never heard any background about it. I expect a St. Patrick is involved...

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland:

Other parts of these islands have their saints as well:- St. George (England), St. Andrew (Scotland), and St. David (Wales).

Like the story of St. Patrick and the snakes, there are various myths and stories surrounding them, e.g. St. George is said to have defeated a dragon!

Wow, that looks like some party! From Paul's link I just learned that the Irish have been celebrating this saint since the 5th century.

Interesting. I liked the Lobster Bar in Carne County. That was the original spelling of my name, AND the way we pronounce it - though most people refuse

Time to go into a little linguistics lesson:

That's actually the town or village of Carne, located in the county of Wexford.

Ireland uaes "county" in front of the name, not after it as in the U.S., so you get County Dublin, County Cork, etc.

With the single exception of County Durham, we don't do this in England. People just say "I live in Norfolk" or "We're going to Kent," etc. (Although some county names end in -shire, which is the old English term for county -- e.g. Hampshire, Wiltshire.)

I'll make a mental note on your name George. I'd just assumed it was pronounced as spelled.
