Hi All,
Does anybody know what voltages, which sockets, what are the legal and PoCo requirements and what systems are used in Mali, Africa? TN-C, TN-S, TN-C-S, TT?

The countries are becoming more and more exotic [Linked Image] I'm curious: What are you going to do in Mali, a hot, arid and poor country?

My database only comes up with 220/380 @ 50Hz, French sockets. No additional information.

It used SECAM and French phone plugs too, so it must be an old French colony.

Are you going there for a visit Eli?

If everything else in Mali was French-influenced, then I would hazard a guess that they probably use TT earthing extensively, at leasr in residential services. That is just a guess though, based on the popularity of TT in France itself.

Where exactly is Mali?.

West Africa, home to Timbouktou and two of my employer's gold mines, Sadiola/Yatela and Morila.

More information http://www.mbendi.co.za/land/af/ml/p0005.htm .

Getting sent to Timbouktou is a strong possibility in my company!

The reason I'm asking is because one of my clients in belgium is building a project in Mali and has "invited" me to be his electrician there, since "it's difficult to find good electricians there" (his words).
