Hi Folks,
I am at my absolute wits end with my desktop computer here that runs W7, for the last few months I've been trying to update it through Windows Update and I currently have 112 update that refuse to install no matter what I try.
I keep getting two error codes:
Code 8024200D- Windows Update encountered an unknown error
Code 9C57- Windows Update encountered an unknown error

But, try and find ANY reference to these actual error codes on the M$ website, is pretty much impossible.
I have tried EVERYTHING that I can possibly think of, to get this sorted out, I've tried changing the update settings, dropping my firewall.
The thing that really bugs me about this whole thing is, the computer will seemingly download all of these updates (which I would imagine wouldn't be a small download), every time.
Can anyone shed any light on why this could be happening?

Thanks,
Mike T.

My suggestion would be to manually install the service packs (SP1 if you don't already have it, followed by the "convenience rollup") -- these are packages that contain a lot of the other updates grouped together, so installing them may drastically reduce your 112, and may very well cover whichever one(s) is/are throwing errors.

Service Pack 1:

MSKB3020369 (must be installed before "convenience rollup"):

A search for the error found a number of posts. One thing that I noticed was to restore hidden updates and install them, even if you didn't think you needed them, including bitlocker.

see https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24376-windows-update-hide-restore-hidden-updates.html

Also I once saw something about renaming an update log folder and running update again. I had to do that on one company computer. I'll post if I can find it again.
