It all began when my son's iPod failed to power on. He asked me if I could try and get it working. I've been down this road a few times. Usually it is a simple fix. I went through every step to get it to show signs of life. Nothing. Then I scoured the Internet to see if there was a trick I missed. Nothing. At this point I decided to venture into unchartered territory and open it up. The reason I decided to crack it open vs see if I could return it to Apple under warranty was due to the fact that the iPod had a curve in it. I don't know if my son fell asleep on it or stepped on it but there it was. If I sent it to Apple looking for some form of compensation I have a feeling they'd see that and get a good laugh then tell me to go fly an...iKite? Anyway, after watching a YouTube video demonstrating a teardown I went for it thinking I might see something loose or damaged due to the body's warped configuration. Nothing. Then I decided to remove the battery and try a replacement. I got the battery out, called a local service/repair business and inquired if they had a replacement battery. They had a battery but asked if I had checked for lint build-up at the charging port - oops... Yep, that was it. Took it a little too far but if I ever need to replace a battery...
