Not the first time I've seen this happen, but the first picture I've gotten of it... 2 AL #10's w/ a #12CU pigtail.... Customer then notified me of a bad switch in a bathroom... Look at what someone did with the GFI next to the switch! [Linked Image]

Do you think al/cu means "aluminum or copper" and not "aluminum and copper?"
I would have to go with the latter.I saw a similar switch box only two days ago.The home owner said "this fan doesn't work"and commenced to flip the switch up and down like it was a yo-yo.can we say no-locks?

twh:
Off the Ideal packaging card that these come with it states AL & CU... It also indicated the size/quantity of conductors here are acceptable... (Bill looked on a card for me [Linked Image] ) I'm hoping this was just a sloppy homeowner splice that wasn't done too well as I've used these purple wirenuts alot of times! The HO already had the device pulled out of the box & stated he had shut the breaker off... I touched the twisted AL's with my hotstick & they arc'ed! One for test before you touch! [Linked Image]
