Yes, it's the transformer mounting. We had to buy 6X6X1/4" square tube and
weld base plates on it. Then we hoisted the steel up into the wall and
welded the top to the structural steel above and anchored it to the floor.
Unistrut was welded to the steel to make the transformer support. The whole
operation was designed by us and approved by a structural engineer. Welding
was done in house by a certified welder. It turned out pretty clean!

Wow, was I off!

All the ones I've seen I always sorta assumed (there's that word) that the wall didn't have any additional bracing. [Linked Image]

You even have those verticle braces, they were just hidden to make it look all the better. Good job.
