The meter height is in violation of the Allegheny Power Customer Requirements, and the Interface may be a violation of 300-11(b).

Didn't have plans on this one, the backfill wasn't suppose to be this deep, according to the GC.
The Phone guy left the Hilti at home or was a little lazy the day he was here...

Virgil,

What is the height of this? And what are the local PoCo Requirements?

Center of the meter is about 30", the PoCo requires 36" to 72" if I'm not mistaken... I had put it at what I had assumed to be 60" above grade CL of meter.

I was mistaken in the original post, this is actually in Appalachian Electric Power's area, they don't require inspections, and the service was brought online as soon as there was a wall to hang it on way back when during the first rough-in stages. At the time it met the requirements.

Also, if that window's less than 18" off the deck, it should be tempered glass. Maybe tell them to start digging?

I could expect to get no more than a blank look and several brownie points deducted for my trouble, though... [Linked Image]

Virgil,

Sounds as bad as AEP. Your meter socket would meet their specifications!!! They always tell me to put it in at eye level when I'm working in their service area. All you have to do is produce the 2' tall electrician that put this one in. [Linked Image]

I remember the firt time I worked in their area, I asked for a service rep to come out & tell me where to put the meter socket. They told me they didn't do that and that if I could see one of their poles from where I wanted to put the meter, that would be a good location. Can you imagine doing that with Allegheny Power?

Hee Hee Hee...

Yeah, I need to get a good pic of a gnarly, untreated locust pole that AEP and WVP have allowed in the past...

I guess that's another "lost art" in AP's territory, though...

These folks just won't believe it... Or maybe they would...

Virgil,
Sounds like once you get the inspector's rating, you'll be walking a fine line between cutting off an arm and shooting yourself in the foot!
