This was found connected to a 2 HP 1 Phase 240V Planer circa 1950. It's the result of a carpenter and a mechanic getting together on an electrical project.

What's wrong with these guys? I thought even carpenters knew that you're supposed to use a BRASS bolt when you're replacing a fuse with a bolt!! What's the extra conductor for? Is it a dedicated phone cable for 911 calls?

If there was a short circuit on the load side, would that be considered a "bolted fault?"

And if the short was right where they installed this little jewel, would it be a "faulted bolt"?

...Only after the Nut welded itself to the threads of the bolt.
