Check out this installation that's in a school toilet room.

I guess some folks will go to ANY lengths to avoid doing things right. This is certainly an interesting way to get power to routed from the bathroom to another space.

This for some odd reason has
Handyman written all over it.
The question is, where is the other end connected to?.
Not good at all.

Mike, he said "School."

This doesn't scream "Handyman," it screams "Maintnence Man!"

I know a lot of Maintenance Guys that work in factories and are well up with Codes and how things are done.
Some of them are retired Electricians.
I was a Maintenance Electrician for a newspaper company last year.
This guy is a Handy-man, with all the trappings of the position, know's it all but knows nothing.

Some schools do everything on the absolute cheap... My grammar school was that way, they used to use the same achievement test booklets year to year. You wern't supposed to makk the booklets, but only on the machine scored answer sheet. One year I had a booklet with what the previous kid thought were the answers, some of them were wrong!...

This grammar school had zip cord running thru the building to drive the school bell...

While not, strictly speaking, related to this thread ... today provided an interesting insight into some folks' work ethic. Or, lack of one.

I have an on-going job with the local school district ..... seems they want some upgrades made. The school I visited today had - surprise, surprise - a new maintenance guy.

Seems the prior guy had a secret cubbyhole ... made quite cozy, with some creative "engineering." For example, a coffeepot supplied with water and power in a manner similar to this pic. It also seems he had quite a collection of "adult" reading matter, and was caught 'continuing his education' on company time.

Looks like there is a receptacle in the side of the light fixture and the cord is for the exhaust fan.
