I had this exact same thing with that exact same fixture in both of my bathrooms, and my house is only 6 years old.

Can you see a date on the drywall? That may tell you when it was installed. In case someone wants to after the previous owners.

Oh the "Wire nuts" on the plug are plastic drywall anchors.

Whaa??? Please tell me that box is the end of the line, and that some schmuck didn't join 2 or more conductors together with plastic anchors???

Plastic anchors used as wirenuts is a new one to me.

Fortunately, no wires spliced together. If there were that would be a contender with the photo with the hot glue splice. The anchors were cracked and I suppose better than nothing...

Why you would cover up a plug in the bathroom, I do not know.

I gotsta get one of those hammersawz- bet it goes fast!

This makes me think back to a lady that had a mirror put up over where her bathroom outlet was.. she wanted the faceplate to match, but did she go out and buy a mirrored glass plate? nooo she wrapped her faceplate with foil! what made it seriously scary was the outlet was a prehistoric one with the terminals facing the front!!

Okay, that one deserves a bigger, WHAT!?!

Hmm, glass mirror. Put the Sawzall away, give me the hammer!
