A family member removed their old bathroom mirror to find this gem. No outlet box for the light and plug covered with no plate. Always wondered why there was no plug in that washroom.

I had this exact same thing with that exact same fixture in both of my bathrooms, and my house is only 6 years old.

Canuck,

Can you see a date on the drywall? That may tell you when it was installed. In case someone wants to after the previous owners.

Looks like someone went crazy with a hammer after finding their s/l covered up...maybe?

It is unfortunate to see this kind of workmanship.

Oh the "Wire nuts" on the plug are plastic drywall anchors. [Linked Image]

Whaa??? Please tell me that box is the end of the line, and that some schmuck didn't join 2 or more conductors together with plastic anchors??? [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Fortunately, no wires spliced together. If there were that would be a contender with the photo with the hot glue splice. The anchors were cracked and I suppose better than nothing...

Why you would cover up a plug in the bathroom, I do not know.

This makes me think back to a lady that had a mirror put up over where her bathroom outlet was.. she wanted the faceplate to match, but did she go out and buy a mirrored glass plate? nooo she wrapped her faceplate with foil! [Linked Image] what made it seriously scary was the outlet was a prehistoric one with the terminals facing the front!!

Okay, that one deserves a bigger, WHAT!?!

Hmm, glass mirror. Put the Sawzall away, give me the hammer!
