From P38J, another bomb! [Linked Image]

This is in a friends home he just bought. It has been built and remodled for the past 100+ years. It looks like the plumber had help installing the service. I didn't get to critique it much other then the missing KO's and romex fittings. He's "thinking" he may need it replaced. On a better note, I guess I will be adding to my antique collection with some of the old switches that are in the house.

They really need to get a KO seal on that 4" rd box. [Linked Image]

And it's a Zinsco panel! I would just leave it alone. [Linked Image]

Someone really needs to start making 45 degree ells for electricians so we don't have to keep use plumbing materials. [Linked Image]

So now we just need to convince Home Depot to carry Crouse-Hinds malleable fittings [Linked Image]

That's a classic! I do have to ask the question: Is that K&T entering the 4" round boxes up top? If not, those bad boys are likely jam-packed for sure. The whole thing looks like an accident waiting to happen, albeit a quite creative installation.

This also looks like a split-bus panel with a two-pole 30 amp breaker in the lighting section. It's hard to tell, but are the poles of this breaker feeding two separate 120 volt circuits? Not that it really matters with this fire trap.

Great viewing for sure.

I will need to do more exploring in the next few weekends, the house is full of K&T and I wasn't really ready to dig into the electrical while visiting. EV, I think you're right about the 30's on the lower side though, they look like 2 separate circuts.... maybe they forgot the "tie-bar" (insert, "Nail") for the cb's and the water heater gets tied together somewhere else on that circut. On the boxes above you mentioned, it looks like K&T leaving the boxes and the old ungrounded romex going to the panel.
Sorry about the bad pic's, I'm new to the phone camera thing [Linked Image]
