Check these out. I came across these at a house that had caught fire, I wonder why?

It would be interesting to see the inside of that breaker panel in the last pic, to see how many tripped or if there was more "fine workmanship" in it too.

I'll bet that SER (SEU? SBC? BVD? RSVP?) cable put on quite a lightshow!!

Jeepers. You don't often see that much "badness" all in one place.

As they might say in Texas: "It needed burnin'."

Demolition by natural selection?

The F.D Should have just let it burn... would have done the homeowner a BIG favour.

Nah, then he would have rebuilt his house, then it would have collapsed on him during it's next fire.

The guy has a good collection of hammers, maybe they are his only tools?. [Linked Image]

Does this guy splice wires with his hammer too?

Good God!

No wonder why the house burned down.

Why get gouged by a contractor when you can do it yourself? See, the lights come on.

I love the 'danger' note posted by the time clock and panel.

Only a small percentage of EEs are schooled in power and even less regarding code. Unfortunately the majority makes the minority look bad.

My experience is electricians follow code and EEs write it. Scary huh??? Look at the titles at NFPA that work on the code. Lots of EEs in there....keeping everyone safe. Careful who you pick on....

Lots of bad wiring, but no indication that this caused the fire. What happened?
