I was visiting a retail greenhouse with my wife and found this power distribution center.

What interested me most were the "clear" low voltage wires entering the power panel. Tracing them, I discovered the "clear" wires are speaker wires from the paging built into the telephone. The "white" low voltage wiring also intering the panel comes directly from the phone.

Apparently, someone thought it was a good idea to splice low voltage speaker wires in the 120/208V panel - for safety!.

The open green and white conductors into the plug in the GFI box are for the festoon lighting.

Wonder who mounted the fire extinguisher next to it?

It has nothing to do with the violations, but who else besides me would have replaced the pipe coming into the top of the j-box rather than use a 3" piece and a coupling? Just not professional. JMO

Looks like there is a couple of short flexes there too.
I can't say that I like the idea of that (Green?) flex taking the wieght of the Yellow Multi-Box. [Linked Image]

I would bet that the low volt wires, some for the phone, some for speakers are not spliced in the panel. They are probably snaked into the main building through one of the PVCs heading underground.

Being PVC it would have been a simple mater to reroute the PVC outside the panel.

Unless....they snaked the low volt in a pipe with line volt. Say with the panel feeders.... [Linked Image]

What's with the white, black, green THHNs in a cord cap. [Linked Image]

I especially like the use of a standard receptacle plate on a wet location box, always a stylish choice. [Linked Image]

You're right!.
I didn't think that was a flex and it's carrying the wieght of that box.
And judging by the green algae around and the plastic cover that sits over the phone, this area gets wetted by the in-house irrigation system too.

Also on the same box with the standard plate it appears to me that the top two threaded ko plugs are missing on each end.

where did the 2gang in use cap sitting on top of the panel fall off of? [Linked Image] Looking at the glass half full... At least those quad units have GFI cord caps [Linked Image]

Nice COM Unit Setup

Let us not overlook the KO'ed entries into the panel above the lowest energized parts.

This is truly a schizoid installation. Somebody cares enough to GFI lots of things... those GFI plugs aren't cheap.... and to use "outdoor" stuff where it might not be required.

Then there are the outrageous things, pointed out already.

I suppose I'd want to know...has this place had a change of personnel? Is it in the process of getting better.... or worse?

Clearance Clarence?

Permantly installed red & extension cord.

Orange extension cord plugged into the black "Wall-Wart" power supply.
