got a call last summer for an attic fan that seemed to be making excessive noise.... Funny, it seemed to start after the satellite installers were there!!

Can we say DUH? [Linked Image] I hope the homeowner sends your repair bill to the installer!!

And is it the lighting or is that motor burned out?

Time for a larger motor and sharpen up those blades!!!!!

Maybe the fan blades were knocking the coax cables out of the way as they hit it?

That is SERIOUSLY a DUHH moment!!

Randy, I hope you gave a copy of that picture to the homeowner! [Linked Image]

Now I've seen it all. I wonder what else he did? [Linked Image]

Pure speculation on my part, but a guy outside could have pushed the coax through the gable vent with one of those long extendable sticks the VDV folks are so fond of.
If he just went to the attic opening and retrieved the end, he might have never seen the fan at all.

I was thinking cable guy with a temp helper of the "beginning ESL" variety. Cable guy pushes cable through from the outside, helper doesn't say anything (doesn't speak much English to start with) because: 1) He assumes Cable Guy knows what he's doing, and 2) He doesn't want to contradict they guy who's paying him.
