Will BC Hydro allow the same location for a 200 amp meter base installed in a carport?. I was just wondering as these carports sometimes get converted to a garage.
Thanks

I just did one in Steelhead Mission where I installed 3 C6 P poles and 1, 50KVA (7200/14400) Line Pole Xfmr to with in 100 feet of a detached garage/carport, and then from there a 1/0 triplex from the 240/120 side to the new 200A service mast, all located in the detached garage, then re-connected the #2 triplex overhead to the home as this was the way in which the customer wanted it done, instead of going UG.
Both the inspector and I went over this before I began, and thought it a bit unusual as to why he did not have the house fed UG instead of Overhead as to the tree's that fall each year in that area which constant repairs have to be done due to tree’s falling over and breaking the HV lines and the LV lines, but it passed no problem's what so ever, as his intension was to make it in to a work shop as well down in the future.

Best to you!
