On friday I had to make a joint with four 12awg wires (347v) so I asked my apprentice to get me a #37. He tells me they're only good for up to 300volts. "Who told you that" I say. "It says so right on the box" he says.
Don't you hate it when the apprentice is right [Linked Image]
Every once in awhile we are right.

I appreciate the tongue in cheek nature of the post but I must always remember that knowledge ia where we find it and the bearer must not be discounted for their inexperience. Clearly a fresh set of eyes can reveal the obvious. Do I sound like confucious or confusion?
I just hate it when they do that in front of my customer however.

Good Day!

In the T&B Cat, HIGH TEMP wire marrs, they are rated for only 300V.

In the IDEAL line, they are ALL 600V rating.
In the T&B are the same in the trade size equivalent also.

The HIGH TEMP Marr's, the PORCELIN WIRE CONNECTORS are the only ones I can find, asking my supplier about this, these are the ones rated for and above 105C, these are the only marrs out there that are rated for 300V, and is the wrong type to be using in the first place in the condition in which you described as was mentioned by MDE.

I have a copy of the reference catalogue and will pass it on to you at you're e-mail in PDF for you to see for your self.

Please have a good and safe day!

Thanks Robert
The Marrete black #37 are the ones I was talking about. Had no idea that they were high temp or only good for 300v. Of course all of this is printed on the side of the box in little tiny leters as my apprentice happily pointed out. Didn't realize they were porcelin either!
