Hi
I am a uk qualified / UK registered electrician.
With my wife being canadian, I am thinking of the possibilities of crossing the pond..
Naturally I don't expect to be instantly qualified in canada.
Are there any pointers to the way to get qualified?
Does each state have it's own regs ? or is there a counrtywide one ?

B.C. would probably be our destination.

Does anyone know where I could get hold of a copy of the current regs for canada/B.C.
Many thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Cheers
Jerry

Hi All,
just got hold of a book on CEC & B.C. amendments, for residential.
On my initial browsing, What confuses me is calculating service size rule 8-200, the example uses 240v , as does a few other calculations in the book, I thought all Canada was 110v, but the book is written & published in Canada.
Is there a mix of 110v & 240v ?
Many thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Cheers
Jerry
Canadian residential:

Single phase 110/240
2 Legs & Neutral
1 leg 110 to ground/neutral
2 legs 240 line to line

Hi Jerry,
The following link will give you a fair idea of the power supplied to a typical North American home.
Hope this helps! http://science.howstuffworks.com/power9.htm

Hi All,
Finally we made it to Vancouver, Canada.
Any suggestions on reading material / books or tips for the IP/TQ exam , I apparently have to challenge it to become a BC electrician.
Cheers
