I know that 250.66 covers the GEC for water pipes etc. but what about just bonding the copper piping where the waterline is pvc from the curb to the main valve inside the dwelling?

Can I use a #6 to bond this or do I need a #4?

200A with 4/0 AL

I already have dual ground rods installed.

I don't see an article that allows you to use anything but 250.66. Even if you try to use the logic of 250.104(A)(2) you are still stuck with the fact that it only applies to multifamily. I do see the logic but it is easier to make folks happy by following the letter of the code. ROPs are open if you want to add single family to 250.104

I can use #4 because the work is still being roughed-in but I was just curious because the piping is NOT being used as a GEC it is connecting to a EGC is it not?

Then this would be based on the largest ocpd which in this case would be a 30A for a water heater.

Or am I doing something else?

I guess then there is no way you can EVER connect to the CW/HW piping with a ground other than a #4, #6 and or a #8 solid for bonding whirlpool tub pumps?

You must BOND the interior metal water piping system based on table 250.66 according to 250.104(A)(1) EVEN if the building is fed with PVC water pipe.

Exsample: If a one family dwelling has a 400 amp service that is fed with 600MCM AL service entrance conductors, then the bond to the metal water piping must be 1/0 copper based on table 250.66

Well, if the dwelling is completely piped in PVC water pipe, then there isn't anything to bond as instructed by 250.104(A)(1)

Other metal piping systems must be bonded according to table 250.122 useing the rating of the OCPD likely to energize the piping.

Exsample:The dwelling's water pipe is all PVC...but the plumber installs the forced hot water piping with copper from the oil fired boiler which is fed by a 15 amp OCPD, well then the equipment grounding conductor run with the circuit conductors is what you would use for the bond(#14).

If that whirlpool tub is fed with copper water pipe,then bond the motor to the piping under the tub with #8 solid.If it is fed with PVC pipe then there isn't anything to bond.
