Lately I have been installing alot of new and used spas. When reconnecting used spas I sometimes run across a wiring method where the wires are run in a raceway to the spa enclosure and then it is open wiring to the control box. Most of the time there is a romex connector at the control box. Something doesn't seem right. When I hook up a spa I take a flexable raceway, usually non-metalic, straight to the control box with the appropiate fittings. Are open wires considered concealed in the spa enclosure?

Someone elce will have to quote you the code article here. I never seen that and it sounds like a viloation to me. We use metalic 3/4 sealtite to snake around inside to the control box off a 3/4 pipe feeding it. Pipe is required around here.

What your talking about must be one of those EC I hear about that will hook up a hot tub for $ 250. I tell the customer that just the materials cost about that to do it right. The customer is angry at me cause I am acussed of ripping them off. In the end they get the $250 special (romex and a 2 pole breaker no connectors or GFI's).
