I have situation where I would like to add a light onto a J box. I would like to bring a 14/2 romex from another circuit to feed the light only and keep the other 2 romexs spliced separately. Of course I will splice all the EGC's together.Do I have to make sure that the hots are on a separate phase? Ans do I have to use handle tie if not a multi-wire branch circuit? Is this accepted by the 2002 code?

..How big is the "j-box"..? you have to watch how many wires you're cramming into that box..and if you are running another circuit in there..don't splice all your neutrals together..egc's can all be spliced together,..Common handle tie on the breaker,..?..no.Only when you have 2 phases on the same yolk or device..ie;a receptacle with the hot side bridging taken off...that you have to use a 2-pole breaker...Different phases..? it won't matter as the neutrals of each circuit should be separated anyway!! Hope this helps ya.. AR

Ditto on everything. Of course the box is big enough or I would not use it. Thanks for the reply and info
