We have a city utilty building service that feeds 2 water pressure pumps(hydrants & water to homes). They want to add a 75 hp mtr to boost the pressure incase theres a drop in water pressure during a fire. They have refereded to it as a Fire Pump!! So if it trully is a F.P. article 695 comes into play. Heres the questions
#1 Can we put a service rated transfer sw . Run run from the c.t. cabinet to the sevice rated sw. then to normal loads . Also off the load side of the same transfer sw. to the fire pump disconnect then to the fire pump controller?? Since all pumps maintain the city water.
#2 if that is possible could we run straight from the transfer sw. to the fire pump location . With out a dissconnect sw. next to the transfer sw. I take it since they would be considered service wires they
would come under 230-6.

This does not sound like a true fire pump. Suggest you hook this up as an additional pump system to maintain water pressure in the towns water service.
